18 days Lower Dolpo Trekking itinerary starts with the sightseeing of UNESCO world heritage site in Kathmandu. Next, we fly to Nepalgunj where we catch another flight to Jhupal. We begin our trek through remote terrain enjoying the majesty of rain-shadow landscapes of Himalayas, reflected in the colorful barren terrain of mountains.
We trek through the area where ancient Bon Po (pre-Buddhist) religion is still practiced. While along the trek, we encounter yak caravans that is used for salt trade with Tibet. We also cross two high passes of Nepal: Numa La and Baga-La Pass and enjoy the tranquility of turquoise water of Phokusndo Lake. You can combine it with Upper Dolpo trek itinerary if you want more adventure and experience. If you have less vacation, itinerary of Lower Dolpo trek can be customized to meet your preference and need.
The best time of the year to visit Lower Dolpo is (April-May) during spring and (October-November) during autumn. Temperatures during these months are pleasant and so are the views. There are minimal chances of snow-fall at higher elevation.
