Tsum valley trek itinerary begins from Arughat, 8-9 hour drive from Kathmandu. The first section of the trek climbs the Bhudi Gandaki valley on well leveled path through forested route, terrace field and isolated villages. Tsum Valley Trek Permit Info
Trekking to Tsum valley is restricted for trekkers which requires restricted area permits to enter the area. The restriction is made to protect the fragile environment, nature and culture of the valley.
Tsum valley trek permit costs USD 70 per person per week from the month (September-November) and after 7 days it costs USD 10 per person per day. From (December-August), it costs USD 50 per week per person and after 7 days it costs USD 7 per day per person or convertible foreign currency.

Road Condition between Kathmandu to Sotikhola
During monsoon, the road connection to Sotikhola is becoming a concern and quite challenging for motor transport. However, spring and autumn is totally safe for vehicle transportation.
Tsum Valley Trail
The trail to Yaru was badly destructed, which was just before Jagat. The route was totally washed away by the movement of the river. The alternative trail was only via Ujya which is dangerous. The 3rd wooden bridge perched above the river makes the trail easier and far safer.

While major trail is passable, government has dispatched a team of engineers to survey the durability of trail route, accommodation and also to clear out blockage of the trail. They claimed it highly safe.
